Member Rights and Responsibilities

Purpose

To define the rights and responsibilities of Members and Friends of CoHo.

Scope

This policy applies to Members and Friends of CoHo.

Responsibilities of Members

  1. Understand CoHo bylaws and faithfully discharge duty as a CoHo Director.
  2. Pay annual dues of $100.
  3. Complete nonviolent communication training and consensus training.
  4. Attend general meetings 75% or more of the time and participate in the consensus decision-making process.
  5. Participate on at least one CoHo committee.
  6. Participate in recruiting, orienting, and buddying prospective new members.
  7. Participate in CoHo related retreats and workshops.
  8. Abide by consensus decisions and policies.

Out of town Members

Members living more than 50 miles from Corvallis are exempt from attending general meetings. All out of town Members are responsible for having email access or setting up an alternative method to be a well-informed active participant of CoHo and serve on a committee. They are also strongly encouraged to attend wellness retreats and workshops, and to attend general meetings when possible.

Rights of Members

  1. Select unit based on Unit Selection Policy.
  2. Be provided with childcare during meetings as budget allows.
  3. Block a consensus decision.
  4. Initiate the Change Process.

Responsibilities of Friends of CoHo

  1. Become familiar with CoHo Vision and Values statement.
  2. Become familiar with Non Violent Communication (NVC).
  3. Abide by CoHo consensus decisions and policies
  4. Pay annual dues of $25.

Friends of CoHo are encouraged to participate in CoHo social gatherings, some meals, work parties, and attend general business and some committee meetings as desired. Friends who have completed NVC training are also welcome to attend Wellness Retreats.

Rights of Friends of CoHo

  1. Notification of scheduled social events, work parties and meetings.
  2. Notification of informal social events.
  3. May participate in CoHo discussions but may not show cards in the decision phase of a consensus process.
