Goodness of Fit

CoHo Cohousing Community is a close knit, participatory community. We've formulated some questions to help you consider whether our community will be a good fit for you. It's meant for your own consideration, and as a good discussion tool. If you agree with most of these statements, you might be a good fit for membership in the CoHo Community.

  • I am interested in sharing work, celebrations, laughter, tears, and milestones of life with a community of people long term.
  • I support using consensus as a decision-making process because I value every member's participation and inherent wisdom.
  • I am happy to learn or already use Non-Violent Communication (a specific communication method developed by Marshal Rosenberg).
  • I value both community and privacy and so desire to have my own home and out door space.
  • I am happy to live in a community where each person's money/income is their own.
  • I look forward to having shared spaces, such as the common house, in which I can participate in vegetarian common meals, celebrations, and activities.
  • I am willing to give about 4 hours a week to CoHo work and responsibilities.
  • I want to support a community that strives to be an inspirational resource locally, and a bridge to other communities in the world at large.
  • I would like to further develop my gifts and talents and encourage others to develop theirs.
  • I embrace diversity in race, age, income level, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnicity and physical ability.
  • I respect individual beliefs and encourage diverse traditions, celebrations and explorations of the spirit.
  • I want to live in a community where space for cottage industries, home offices and artistic endeavors are encouraged.
  • I care about the earth and am committed to environmentally sustainable practices and building techniques.
  • I want to give and receive support in making sound day-to-day living choices that reduce our impact on the earth.
  • I recycle, reuse, and share resources whenever possible.
  • I am willing to do my part to create and maintain habitat for native plants and animals, including having my pets be indoor or contained, leashed or under certified voice control outdoors.
  • I understand the fun, affection, comforts, and meaning pets add to their families' lives and am willing to work to promote a harmonious relationship among pets, pet owners, and non-pet owners and a peaceful, clean, and safe environment for all.
  • I am happy to walk from my car to my home to have a pedestrian-oriented community.
  • I often use my bike or walk instead of driving a car.
  • I am open to change.
